G. A. (Avi) Lipton, PhD is a healer, artist, and scholar of mysticism.

Avi initially studied painting at Bard College and the School of the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston. Shifting his focus to the healing arts in the 1990s, Avi trained intensively in various somatic and process-oriented therapeutic disciplines at the Heartwood Institute of Healing Arts and the New Mexico Academy of Healing Arts. Initiated within several Tibetan Buddhist and Islamic Sufi lineages, over the past 30 years he has extensively mentored with spiritual healers and teachers from an array of cultural and religious traditions.

Avi has professional certifications in Integrative Somatic Trauma Therapy (The Embody Lab) and Transformational Therapy (Heartwood Institute of Healing Arts), as well as over 1200 hours of certification in a wide range of therapeutic bodywork modalities (New Mexico Academy of Healing Arts). He holds a PhD in Religious Studies from the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill and has taught and published on religion, mysticism, and Sufism.
